In music to "ritard" is to gradually slow the tempo. It works in life, too: do something wickedly wonderful that makes everything stop til you get yourself together. Laugh yourself silly and drag others along with you!

I've been watching the Lord of the Rings trilogy. These make me think of those mighty dwarf warriors like Gimli. :)
