In music to "ritard" is to gradually slow the tempo. It works in life, too: do something wickedly wonderful that makes everything stop til you get yourself together. Laugh yourself silly and drag others along with you!

Calvin and Hobbes, Photoshopped
I miss Bill Watterson. His Calvin and Hobbes made me smile for 10 years. If you feel the same, check out Redditor Nite4awk's photoshopped works. He's taken real-life images and added a certain loyal feline and adventurous six year old.
I always loved Calvin and Hobbes. To think that I had to go to seminary to figure out that they're representative of John Calvin (dogmatic Reformed Protestant) and Thomas Hobbes (philosopher). The more I learned about the men; the more levels that I saw in the cartoon strips. It was like watching Bugs Bunny for the first time as an adult. Funny before, and even funnier after.
I used a quote from one of their comics in a paper I had to do in college. Don't recall if it was Philosophy or Intro to Religion, but I do recall that the prof was not amused. Had I known and mentioned they were named for such notables it may have been better received! Or not...they were both rather tweedy and dour.
