In music to "ritard" is to gradually slow the tempo. It works in life, too: do something wickedly wonderful that makes everything stop til you get yourself together. Laugh yourself silly and drag others along with you!
I have mixed feelings about rats. That one looks pretty cute, but I don't know that I'd feel the same if I met him in a dark alley. ;)
