In music to "ritard" is to gradually slow the tempo. It works in life, too: do something wickedly wonderful that makes everything stop til you get yourself together. Laugh yourself silly and drag others along with you!
FUN!!! I loved watching how they put it together too. At one point, I thought that they had put in a subliminal message about meth. It kind of goes diagonally over the framed pic in the set up video (between seconds 26 & 28). It was really a residual image from one of the prop guys' t-shirts, which says, "Math is hard." It just flashes there for a second. Psychedelic man! :P
