In music to "ritard" is to gradually slow the tempo. It works in life, too: do something wickedly wonderful that makes everything stop til you get yourself together. Laugh yourself silly and drag others along with you!

Dust Portraits by Allison Cortson
The painting makes me giggle. The fact that it's made from the dust at their home, collected via vacuum creeps me out. It makes for an odd expression.
