In music to "ritard" is to gradually slow the tempo. It works in life, too: do something wickedly wonderful that makes everything stop til you get yourself together. Laugh yourself silly and drag others along with you!
Now, that's different. I think that this one should win the Golden Gleetard Award. But it makes me wonder what it tastes like. :D
