In music to "ritard" is to gradually slow the tempo. It works in life, too: do something wickedly wonderful that makes everything stop til you get yourself together. Laugh yourself silly and drag others along with you!

Commander Hadfield and a Shaken Coke
Commander Chris Hadfield is awesome. You should follow him on Twitter, at the very least. In this clip he's in a submarine and is going to show you the physics involved when you shake and then open a can of Coke at the bottom of the sea.
