In music to "ritard" is to gradually slow the tempo. It works in life, too: do something wickedly wonderful that makes everything stop til you get yourself together. Laugh yourself silly and drag others along with you!
And in the spirit of "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery," I'll be doing something similar over at my blog. After all, a good idea is a good idea. :)
