In music to "ritard" is to gradually slow the tempo. It works in life, too: do something wickedly wonderful that makes everything stop til you get yourself together. Laugh yourself silly and drag others along with you!
Cool! My hamster had a VW Bug to put his wheel in. Quite funny when he'd escape my classroom and zip down the hallway...well, I thought so anyway. Crabby coworkers not so much.
