In music to "ritard" is to gradually slow the tempo. It works in life, too: do something wickedly wonderful that makes everything stop til you get yourself together. Laugh yourself silly and drag others along with you!

You Weirdos Are My Tribe
I found this weeks ago but forgot to post it. I did use it, though, just last week. I was at a destination wedding, walked into a roomful of strangers, and heard: "And that's how we gave the baby a hickie." Of COURSE I burst out laughing, which made all heads turn my direction. Most faces looked bemused, but 2 blushed from head to toe---obviously the source of the quote. I just opened my arms wide and said, "My tribe, I have found you at last!" And introduced myself. It was the start to a fantastic week.

Jarbas Agnelli's "Birds On The Wires"
I love how Mr. Agnelli's mind works. He saw a photo of birds on a wire and made it into music. The world needs more people like Jarbas: folks who see the world a little differently from the rest of us and take the time to show us what we're missing.
